The goal is to eliminate financial and travel barriers for immigrant families, who are facing increased ICE enforcement, thereby providing them with the necessary legal consultations to pursue immigration relief, gain security, and foster stability within their local communities.

Navigating SNAP Changes: Empowering Low-Income Seniors in Montgomery County

This project will urgently support low-income seniors in Montgomery County as they navigate SNAP benefits amid federal funding cuts, policy changes, and staffing shortages- factors driving confusion, anxiety, and a 60% increase in local food pantry visits. To meet rising demand, the project will expand Social Services staff hours for one-on-one and group education sessions, while also creating and distributing clear SNAP materials to both center members and home-bound seniors, helping reduce enrollment gaps and ensure continued access to essential nutrition assistance.

Montco Anti-Hunger Network (MAHN) provided leadership training in June to help food pantry leaders create welcoming, safe environments for immigrant guests. Open to their entire membership network, the training focused on addressing urgent concerns rising from recent federal policy actions that are targeting individuals without residency documentation. MAHN’s primary goal for the training was to empower pantry leaders to respond effectively to these and other challenges that may impact access to emergency food for immigrant guests.

CCATE is launching a comprehensive advocacy program to address urgent challenges facing the community amid intensified immigration enforcement. This initiative combines regular community assemblies with government officials and experts, and advocacy podcasts providing critical updates and resources. This project would enable them to maintain engagement with supportive officials who attended and swiftly establish regular programming, preventing community fear from causing further isolation and disengagement from essential services and civic participation. 

PALM'S Health Advisory Action Committee

PALM's Senior Health Advisory Action Committee will use rapid funds to combat the rising tide of health-related disinformation that disproportionately affects vulnerable seniors. This funding will enable the committee to provide accurate and accessible health information, conduct educational sessions, and equip seniors with the tools to distinguish reliable sources from harmful misinformation. The initiative includes community outreach and social media efforts aimed at fact-checking and directly addressing critical issues to improve health literacy. By doing so, the committee can help seniors make informed health decisions and protect them from the dangerous consequences of false information.

Minority-owned businesses have an increasingly tough landscape ahead. Through strategic collaboration, advocacy, and innovative solutions, FORCE will build inclusive pathways to success, nurture future leaders, and ensure the long-term prosperity of minority-owned businesses. FORCE is supported by a fiscal sponsor partnership with the TriCounty Community Network (TCN).
