Two New Grant Awards from the Rapid Response Fund for Community Power

We are proud to announce two new grant awards from our Rapid Response Fund for Community Power to the following organizations: 

Centro de Cultura, Arte, Trabajo y Educación (CCATE) for their “Villa Inmigrante: Building Power Through Knowledge and Unity”

Building on their January 29th community assembly that drew 400 members of the Latinx immigrant community in Norristown, CCATE is launching "Villa Inmigrante: Building Power Through Knowledge and Unity," a comprehensive advocacy program to address urgent challenges facing the community amid intensified immigration enforcement. This initiative combines regular community assemblies with government officials and experts, and advocacy podcasts providing critical updates and resources.  This project would enable them to maintain engagement with supportive officials who attended and swiftly establish regular programming, preventing community fear from causing further isolation and disengagement from essential services and civic participation. 

Immigrant Rights Action for their project “Growing Legal Clinic Availability” 

Immigrant Rights Action has offered free legal clinics since October of 2022. These no-cost consultations are provided by an immigration attorney and would normally cost a client between $150 to $250 and require travel to Philadelphia. This financial burden and travel can be a barrier to accessing possible paths to immigration relief for many in the community. These monthly clinics are in high demand, with a waitlist for each clinic. Immigrant Rights Action will expand the availability of their legal clinics to twice a month to support the community. Obtaining legal representation and beginning an immigration process provides a level of safety and security for immigrant families, their loved ones and provides stability to our local communities. 

As we reflected in our first announcement, HealthSpark Foundation will continue to support nonprofits responding to unexpected, urgent events as they continue to build community power against unjust and discriminatory policies and actions.
