Mission

To be a welcoming and inclusive, safe place for marginalized and vulnerable populations by providing diverse services to improve their well-being and to bring about positive social change in Greater Philadelphia.

Vision
We envision a world in which all people are welcomed just as they are. We provide belonging and welcome training and education, support groups, social activities and events, advocacy, and interfaith learning and cooperation. We serve newcomers to the US, including international community members navigating the immigration process, vulnerable faith communities, LGBTQ+ communities, and people living in poverty who lack the basic necessities.

Building Power with LGBT+ and Immigrant Communities

The project is a collaborative effort between The Welcome Project PA (WPPA) and Immigrant Rights Action to build resilience and provide comprehensive support to LGBT+ and immigrant communities through a range of resources. Services include mental health support like low-cost therapy in English and Spanish and LGBT+ support groups, as well as educational programs on rights, healthcare, and safety. The initiative also offers free monthly legal clinics, a referral service, and culturally competent therapy to immigrant communities, strengthening advocacy and empowerment. Additionally, it fosters community through social gatherings and provides Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging (DEIAB) training to shift harmful narratives and create spaces of belonging.

This project aims to address the urgent need for accessible and affordable immigration legal services in the BuxMont area by expanding Immigrant Rights Action's free legal clinics from once to twice a month. The goal is to eliminate financial and travel barriers for immigrant families, who are facing increased ICE enforcement, thereby providing them with the necessary legal consultations to pursue immigration relief, gain security, and foster stability within their local communities.

WPPA and Immigrant Rights Action merged.
