NHN on the Main Line 2025

Black Justice Fund
Fiscal Year:
2025
Amount:
$20,000

NHN on the Main Line stems from 15+ years of volunteer racial justice advocacy in Montgomery County. We were founded, and continue to be led by, a mother-daughter duo who were born and raised in Ardmore. As a community hub we provide comprehensive support to generationally neglected communities on the Main Line, including education empowerment, food security, and outreach & resource linkage. We are dedicated to co-creating solutions with the communities we serve and foster lasting connections between neighbors through a range of direct-service programs.

Fostering Opportunities Resources and Commerce among Minority Enterprises (FORCE)

Black Justice Fund
Fiscal Year:
2025
Amount:
$8,000

FORCE is committed to eliminating systemic barriers and building equitable pathways to generational wealth, wellness, and leadership for Black, Brown, and historically marginalized communities in Montgomery County. We are confronting the deeply entrenched economic systems redlining, discriminatory lending, generational disinvestment, and displacement that have systematically excluded Black, Brown, and low-income communities from ownership and opportunity. To reverse this legacy, we are developing systems of economic inclusion and community ownership. We are building a Pottstown where wealth is community-rooted, leadership is homegrown, and growth is inclusive by design not by chance. Through coordinated action and shared vision, Be ReZilient and FORCE are ensuring that the transformation of Pottstown is not something that happens to the community, but something that is built by and for it.

$15,000

Grant funds will enable MADE to build its organizational capacity in four distinct ways: 1) build a stronger, more educated and active Board of Directors; 2) secure a physical location to increase the reach and extent of our programming, thus strengthening our mission to leverage community resources and ultimately, assist the average citizen in pursing economic stability, security and advancement; 3) shift the onerous of financing the programming to a more diversified and sustainable funding model; and 4) invest time and energy into building a collaborative, cross sector network that increases the economic achievement of community members and connects vital economic resources to residents in the southwest corner of Montgomery County to attain and access skills in high priority trade occupations, prepare entry level workers for the trades and build further knowledge in financial literacy that builds financial empowerment and long-term stability. Operational support will allow us to continue to build our internal and organizational capacity so we can focus more resources on providing individuals with the means to better their current situation and stimulate continued future growth of both the individual and the community.

GWCCC has been offering programs to the community since May 30,1960. As we continue to live through our ancestors’ legacy, it is imperative that we network and bridge gaps with other organizations, so that everyone can display teamwork and collaboration while building and strengthening our community. Receiving this grant will be a significant contribution in helping us continue to provide affordable programs, events, and educational as well as recreational activities to the Greater Norristown Community. We will continue to cultivate our relationships with other local organizations so we can impact as many families as possible. These funds will allow us to provide an all-inclusive environment to the members of the community encompassing health and safety initiatives, education and literacy programs, wellness, and mental health resources, pardoning and restorative education, all of which are possible currently due to our partnerships with other organizations.

Roots of Resilience: Strengthening Mental Wellness in Minority Family Units

Black Justice Fund
Fiscal Year:
2025
Amount:
$15,000

Through our College Readiness Parent Institute, our mission is to involve Black families earlier in the college going journey. We have seen firsthand how untreated stress, depression, anxiety, and racial trauma among parents hinder their ability to support their children’s education and futures. In response, we developed two new workshops - Managing the Stress and Anxiety of the College Application Process and A Mindful Approach to Navigating the Financial Aid Process - to address the emotional needs of our parents. We are seeking to empower Black families through education and mental wellness.

Black parents in Montgomery County are navigating systemic racism, economic strain, and educational pressures, often in isolation, and with limited trust in traditional systems of care, because mainstream mental health systems have often failed to meet the cultural and emotional needs of Black communities. The need for culturally relevant mental health intervention has never been greater. Our model of culturally rooted engagement, parent-centered programming, and wellness-integrated education, empowers families by giving Black parents space to share their stories of resilience and advance the Justice Fund’s to support Black solutions to Black challenges.
