Registration is now open for the Safety Net Initiative Community of Practice!
“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any.” â Alice Walker
HealthSpark Foundation is pleased to announce that registration is now open for its Community of Practice event, on Tuesday, September 14, 2022 from 9:00 am â 10:00 pm. The Community of Practice is part of the 10-year Safety Net Initiative to build a more just and financially sustainable safety net. Learn more and register here.
HealthSpark Foundation is planning a series of Community of Practice events focused on exploring the roles that nonprofit organizations and a strong safety net play in protecting and strengthening our communities and democracy. We believe these conversations are now of particular importance in light of the unfolding implications of recent Supreme Court decisions, challenges to voting and elections, and ever-increasing demands placed upon safety net providers to serve, heal, and bring communities together.
At each event, we'll hear from colleagues to spark conversation and will create spaces for attendees to talk, connect, process, plan with each other, and build community. We hope you join us for our Fall 2022 events:
September 14: Nonprofits and Democracy (and Get Ready to Vote)
We will explore the current and potential role of nonprofits in society, and how to realize the potential of nonprofits to strengthen our democracy through advocacy, voter mobilization, community education and awareness-raising. For some safety net providers (and their Board members), this may mean re-imagining what is possible and allowable. Join us, and invite your Board members, as we discuss ways to improve the status quo, move from despair to action, and call on our neighbors to build healthier communities and a stronger safety net. Registration open now!
October 12: Building Capacities to Confront Racism and Racial Disparities - SAVE THE DATE
HealthSpark Foundation engaged hundreds of colleagues and safety net providers to identify what we need to do to build a better safety net in Montgomery County. Join us for a candid and hopeful discussion about what our partners - and you - have learned about centering racial equity and understanding of long-time disparities - and what those lessons tell us about the future, particularly in light of national trends.
