New Food Pantry Advocacy and Volunteer Management Toolkits
Philabundance recently created two toolkits for food pantries and other organizations in the emergency food system: advocacy and volunteer management.
The Advocacy Toolkit provides strategies to help pantry staff, board members, volunteers and customers become effective anti-hunger advocates. Various advocacy strategies are hightlighted, including educating the public on the prevalence of hunger in Montgomery County, collecting stories of consumers, supporting voter registration efforts and connecting with elected officials. Readers can use included tools to create their own advocacy.
The Volunteer Toolkit covers various aspects of a volunteer management program such as outreach, orientation and training, communication strategies and handling difficult situations.
The foundation thanks Philabundance for creating these important resources for food pantries and other organizations.
