Launch of Jumpstart Montco
On November 5th, HealthSpark Foundation was joined by our community partners and elected leaders to officially announce the launch of Jumpstart Montco! Jumpstart Montco is now offering low cost, short-term financing for local developers to build and rehab affordable properties in Montgomery County.
The program is catalyzed through HealthSpark's largest impact investment to date, a $750,000 line of credit to the program. Our investment is matched dollar for dollar by Jumpstart President Ken Weinstein, bringing the total amount available for housing development to $1.5M.
Importantly, this program invests directly into local entrepreneurs looking to improve their own neighborhoods. We hosted our event at a property in Norristown, where Earl Walls, a Norristown native and Jumpstart graduate, is rehabbing a duplex for affordable resale. Jumpstart's builders are majority people of color and women, an outcome that aligns with our value of ensuring equitable access to capital.
Healthy housing is a foundation for individual and community well-being, and this impact investment allows HealthSpark to step firmly into its role as a health-focused impact investor. I'm so proud of this milestone, and energized to continue finding catalytic ways to build healthy, equitable, and hopeful communities throughout Montgomery County.
Thank you to our County Commissioners Jamila Winder and Neil Makhija for your local leadership; Senator Amanda Cappelletti and Representatives Gregory Scott and Napoleon Nelson for your partnership and words of encouragement.
