HealthSpark's Emma Hertz is named to Generocity's Inaugural RealLIST of Social Impact Leaders in Greater Philadelphia

HealthSpark Foundation is proud to share that Emma Hertz, Director of External Affairs, has been named to Generocity's 2021 RealLIST, a peer-nominated collection of 45 leaders in the nonprofit sector having an outsized impact on quality of life in Greater Philadelphia.

In her role with HealthSpark, Ms. Hertz leads partnership-building efforts to advance the Foundation's mission to build a more just and financially resilient Montgomery County. That work has included spearheading the Foundation's investments into media, journalism, and storytelling via the Voices for Change initiative.

"HealthSpark Foundation is making Montgomery County the site of new thinking about philanthropic equity and justice," Generocity writes, and Ms. Hertz "is right there, in the thick of things."

Ms. Hertz recently spoke with the Lenfest Institute regarding her involvement in a pilot pooled funding initiative to support journalism focusing on pandemic response using an equity lens, which helped create a pathway for the Foundation's deeper investments into narrative shift and journalism as a critical lever for more just social policy. “We need to go outside of our normal, safe networks,” said Hertz. “It is really important that if we want to enact change, we have to go out into different spaces. This opportunity allowed us to expand our bubble a bit more.”
