HealthSpark Board of Directors Update

A new fiscal year brings changes to our Board. Our deep thanks to Dr. Hilton for his tenure at HealthSpark. In addition, member Kareem Afzal is also retiring from the Board. Kareem served for two years, and during his service brought insights gained from his years of volunteer service in the North Penn region into his engagement. Many thanks to Kareem for his service.

We are happy to welcome three new Board Members: May Their Aye (Administrative Assistant, Thomas Jefferson University Health System); Ed Nawrocki (President, East Region and Anderson Campus for St. Luke’s University Health Network); and Rev. Carolyn Cavaness (Pastor of Bethel AME Church of Ardmore). These members were part of our Community Volunteers program, a one-year cycle of active engagement where members share their knowledge through strategic discussions with our staff, board, and committees and learn about HealthSpark’s impact in the county.

Finally, we are grateful for Lawrence Mangan’s (Vice-President, Finance & Administration of Poetry Foundation) continuing second year of service in our Community Volunteers program. And we are excited to announce two new volunteers: Rajju Malla-Dhakal (Nepalese Guthi Association) and Marla Davis Bellamy (Director of Philadelphia CeaseFire at Temple University).

HealthSpark excitedly looks forward to tapping into the perspectives and knowledge of our new Board Members and Community Volunteers as we continue to advance equitable systems change.
