Announcing Our 2026 Community Action Team: Partnering to Guide Justice Grantmaking
We're proud to announce the launch of our 2026 Community Action Team (CAT) - a group of community leaders who will help guide our Dr. Frank E. Boston Black Justice Fund and Justice Fund grant programs. Together, they represent a wide range of perspectives from nonprofit, philanthropic, private, faith-based, and local government spaces.
As we move forward with a fresh experience, the CAT will center lived experience, shared power, and community wisdom in shaping funding decisions across our justice-centered grantmaking.
Together, we'll strengthen and support programs that advance equity, dignity, and opportunity in focus areas of power-building, leadership development, and positive storytelling - responding to the real and urgent challenges communities across Montgomery County face today.

What the Community Action Team Does
In partnership with HealthSpark Foundation staff, the CAT helps to:
- Guide funding decisions that support power-building, leadership development, and storytelling.
- Amplify community voices in shaping our priorities and understanding impact.
- Identify local opportunities and organizations driving meaningful change.
- Advise on and conduct outreach to ensure our work stays grounded in addressing real-time community challenges.
Looking Ahead
The Dr. Frank E. Boston Black Justice Fund and Justice Fund open in March, marking the beginning of this next phase of community-informed grantmaking. To celebrate and deepen connection, we invite community members to join us for Network & Nurture on March 11 - a space to connect, collaborate, and generate good things.
