Financial Toolkit for Food Pantries (2018)

Commissioned by HealthSpark and authored by Bee, Bergvall & Co., this comprehensive resource will provide food pantries with the tools they need to set up and maintain appropriate accounting policies and procedures.

This toolkit builds off two previous toolkits - one for standalone pantries and one for faith-based pantries - written by Bee, Bergvall & Co. in 2016. While changes in accounting regulations necessitated an update, this new version is much more extensive in scope.

For those with little accounting experience, the toolkit begins with the basics of nonprofit accounting principles and reports. It moves to a discussion of how to use your accounting systems in appropriately managing your finances. And the progression continues with how to strategically use your financials in programming, evaluation and fundraising.

A Quick Start guide helps users find the exact section(s) they need and a Frequently Asked Questions addresses common concerns.

This toolkit follows two previously released toolkits from Philabundance on Volunteer Management and Advocacy.
