A National Imperative: Joining Forces to Strengthen Human Services in America is a report commissioned by the Alliance for Strong Families and Communities and the American Public Human Services Association (APHSA) and drafted by Oliver Wyman and SeaChange Capital Partners. This groundbreaking report focuses on human services community-based organizations (CBOs), their economic and social impact, and the need to strengthen and preserve their role in the larger human services ecosystem (public sector health and human services agencies, private funders and foundations and others).

This report comes as HealthSpark launches its health & human service Safety Net Resiliency Initiative. It offers insights as to why the timing for this work is so appropriate as well as the imperative that this work begin yesterday. The report profiles “model communities” where other community-based nonprofit organizations are providing services in innovative ways.

Also included are recommendations for community-based organizations, policy makers, government, foundations and others to address the financial challenges many of our community’s nonprofits are facing.
