Have a home garden? Share your extra produce with those in need

The Vegetable Basket Program returns to the North Penn and Indian Valley Communities for the summer. The program distributes thousands of pounds of fresh produce to families in need.

Starting July 8, gardeners can visit one of six locations to drop off extra produce for distribution to individuals and families in need through local food pantries. Locations will accept donations starting at 9:00 a.m. every Monday (except Labor Day) throughout the growing and harvesting seasons.

DROP OFF LOCATIONS

  • Deep Run East Mennonite Church, 350 Kellers Church Road, Perkasie
  • Blooming Glen Creamery Apartments
  • Care & Share Shoppes, 783 Rt. 113, Souderton (Please leave donations at the side covered porch of the furniture shop.)
  • Indian Valley Faith Fellowship, 190 Maple Avenue, Harleysville
  • Manna on Main Street, 713 W. Main Street, Lansdale
  • Lamb Foundation, 114 N. Main Street, North Wales

Produce will be distributed to food pantries that participate in the Nutrition Coalition. The Coalition works to identify and deploy evidence-based approaches to healthy eating; to increase access to fresh and high quality foods; to enhance access to SNAP (Supplement Nutrition Assistance Program) benefits; and to design and deploy a sustainable infrastructure for the collection, storage and transport of food among Coalition members.
